Can you guess what these bags are actually used for? 👀
We spotted them during our recent visit to the production and distribution facilities in Bad Hersfeld, Germany.
They play a very specific role in a book’s journey. But what is it?
A) Keeping freshly printed books separate while they dry
B) Sorting individual books and matching them with the correct customer order
C) Transporting complete bookstore orders to the delivery trucks
D) No idea! 😄
Comment A, B, C or D below. 👇
Everyone who gets it right will receive 30% off a book of their choice at the MoreBooks! shop. 🎁

🎉 The correct answer is B! Each bag carries one freshly printed book. The bags temporarily store the books and arrange them in the right sequence. Then, each book is released into the correct bookstore order, or sent directly for individual delivery. From printing to distribution, all in one connected process. 📚 Fun fact: the idea for this system came from the clothing industry. 👀 Congratulations to everyone who guessed correctly! 🎁 We’ll get in touch with you via DM soon.

We went to see what happens to your book after you hit “publish”. 📚
Last week, part of the OmniScriptum team travelled to Bad Hersfeld, Germany, where we got to follow a book’s journey through two connected facilities.
First stop: production at Plureos/Bod. 🏭
This is where a digital file becomes a physical book. We walked past the printing equipment, huge rolls of paper and binding lines, seeing up close how books are produced when orders come in.
Then, just next door, we stepped into a completely different world: Libri’s distribution facility. 📦
Here, books from publishers are stored, sorted, combined into orders and prepared for rapid delivery to bookstores.
And the scale is impressive:
📦 430,000 storage containers
🏗️ 9,600 pallet spaces
📚 4,000+ bookstores supplied
⚡ Orders prepared for overnight delivery
What makes Bad Hersfeld especially fascinating is seeing these two sides of publishing connected in one place: production and distribution.
A big thank you to the Plureos/Bod and Libri teams for welcoming us and showing us around. 💙
One detail of this journey surprised us more than we expected... 😲 More from Bad Hersfeld coming soon. 👀
