We went to see what happens to your book after you hit âpublishâ. đ
Last week, part of the OmniScriptum team travelled to Bad Hersfeld, Germany, where we got to follow a bookâs journey through two connected facilities.
First stop: production at Plureos/Bod. đ
This is where a digital file becomes a physical book. We walked past the printing equipment, huge rolls of paper and binding lines, seeing up close how books are produced when orders come in.
Then, just next door, we stepped into a completely different world: Libriâs distribution facility. đŚ
Here, books from publishers are stored, sorted, combined into orders and prepared for rapid delivery to bookstores.
And the scale is impressive:
đŚ 430,000 storage containers
đď¸ 9,600 pallet spaces
đ 4,000+ bookstores supplied
⥠Orders prepared for overnight delivery
What makes Bad Hersfeld especially fascinating is seeing these two sides of publishing connected in one place: production and distribution.
A big thank you to the Plureos/Bod and Libri teams for welcoming us and showing us around. đ
One detail of this journey surprised us more than we expected... đ˛ More from Bad Hersfeld coming soon. đ

Your book can reach readers in 60+ countries. But how does it actually get there? đ
It starts with your manuscript. From there, a whole distribution system begins working behind the scenes.
1ď¸âŁ Your book is prepared for publication
Once your manuscript is approved and the publishing process is complete, your book receives its ISBN and all the metadata needed for distribution.
2ď¸âŁ Your book enters our distribution network
Its information is shared through our international distribution channels, including Amazon, Libri, Ingram, Hachette, MoreBooks! and 100+ national partners. You donât need to build your own distribution network or approach retailers market by market.
3ď¸âŁ Your book becomes discoverable
Depending on the market and distribution partner, readers, bookstores and libraries across 60+ countries can find and order your title.
4ď¸âŁ An order comes in. Print on Demand takes over.
Unlike traditional print runs, Print on Demand means your book is produced when an order is placed. No upfront investment in hundreds of copies, no inventory to manage, and no boxes of unsold books to store.
5ď¸âŁ Your book makes its way to the reader đŚ

Who actually reads academic books? The answer might surprise you. đ

Can We Still Trust Human Leadership in the Age of AI?
âWarum Vertrauen in Menschliche Intelligenz zählt: Ein Humanistisches FĂźhrungskonzept in Zeiten KĂźnstlicher Intelligenzâ by Thomas WĂźrzburger explores one of the defining leadership questions of our time:
Who can we trust when artificial intelligence increasingly takes over human thinking and leadership?
Rather than choosing between Human Intelligence and Artificial Intelligence, WĂźrzburger presents a humanistic leadership model showing how both can work together to shape the future, without humans losing their relevance or authority.
His practical framework MIND ⢠TRUST ⢠DEAL & LEAD offers a powerful compass for leaders in business, politics, and society navigating an increasingly AI-driven world.
